Re:Days Privacy Policy
1. Overview
Re:Days is an iPhone and iPad app that keeps your photos on your calendar as events on the days you went out. It is developed and operated by an individual developer in Japan. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored, and how we think about your privacy.
In short: Re:Days has no servers of its own, never sends your data to us (the developer), and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. It never copies or modifies your photos. Records are stored only in your own calendar, in a dedicated calendar named “Re:Days”. Delete the app and that calendar, and your photos and your other events are exactly as they were.
2. Information we collect
The Re:Days app collects no personal information. Its App Store privacy label is declared as “Data Not Collected”. The only thing we ever receive is the email you send us if you contact us (section 11).
Information created while you use the app (a record’s title, date and time, place name, notes, and a link to the photos) is written directly into your own calendar through the APIs provided by iOS. We have no access to it.
3. Where your data is stored
Data created by Re:Days is stored only in the following places.
- Calendar: records are saved as ordinary events in a dedicated calendar named “Re:Days”, which the app creates in the Calendar app. If that calendar is an iCloud calendar, it is synced to your iCloud account under Apple’s control. The event’s URL field holds a link for opening the photos (starting with
redays://), which contains photo identifiers. It does not contain the photos themselves. - On-device settings: the identifier of the dedicated calendar, whether the first-run guide has been shown, and a cached copy of your Re:Days Pro purchase state are kept on the device, in storage shared between the app and its share extension. They are never sent to us and leave the device only as part of your device backups.
Re:Days does not copy photos into the app. It does not write to the photos in your library — it never changes captions, keywords, location data or image data.
4. Permissions we request
Re:Days asks for the following iOS permissions at the moment they are needed.
- Photos (Full Access) — required. Used to find the photos handed to the app from the share sheet or the “+” button, to read their capture date and location, and to display them when you open a record from your calendar. With “Limited Access” the app cannot locate the photos it was given, so it does not work. The app itself never sends image data to any server (syncing by iCloud Photos is Apple’s mechanism).
- Calendar (Full Access) — required. Used to create the dedicated “Re:Days” calendar, write records into it and read them back. Write-only access is not enough to create a calendar. The app reads the list of calendar names to find its own calendar, but never reads or changes events in your other calendars.
- Location — not requested. The app does not use your device’s current location. Place names come from the location recorded in the photo (see section 6).
You can change these permissions at any time in Settings > Apps > Re:Days. Revoking a permission does not delete records you have already created.
5. Children’s privacy
Re:Days is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If a child uses Re:Days, the data they create is stored in the calendar on that device, not with us.
6. Services the app works with
As part of normal operation on your device, Re:Days works with the following services.
Standard iOS features (provided by Apple)
- Calendar (EventKit) — where records are stored.
- Photos (PhotoKit) — locating and displaying photos.
- iCloud — syncs with Apple’s servers if you have iCloud Calendar or iCloud Photos turned on.
- Maps (MapKit) — in two situations, the coordinates recorded in the photo are sent to Apple’s Maps service. Your device’s current location is never used.
- While “Location” is on in the entry screen, to convert the coordinates into a place name (such as a city or a venue). For photos that carry location data, “Location” starts on, so the coordinates of the earliest photo are sent once as soon as the entry screen opens, even if you don’t add the record. Photos shared without location data start with it off, and nothing is sent unless you turn it on.
- In a photo’s details (swipe up on a photo), to show a map of where it was taken.
- App Store (StoreKit) — purchasing Re:Days Pro and checking its status. Apple handles payment; the app never receives your name, address or payment details. Use through Family Sharing is likewise handled by Apple.
All of these are covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Other apps you choose to open
The Share button while viewing a photo hands the photo to another app you choose (Messages, Mail and so on) through iOS. Re:Days never sends anything directly to an external server; whether to share is entirely your decision.
7. What people you share with can see
If you share the dedicated “Re:Days” calendar through iCloud, for example with your family, the people you share it with can see each record’s title, date and time, place name, notes, and the link to the photos (including the photo identifiers). The photos themselves are not shown unless they are also in that person’s library. You manage who the calendar is shared with in the Calendar app.
Because records are ordinary events, other calendar apps you have granted access to, and assistants such as Siri, may also be able to read them within the permissions you have given. This follows from the app’s design of keeping your data in your own standard storage — the same design that leaves ownership and portability of the data with you.
8. Analytics, advertising and tracking
Re:Days includes no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK and no cross-app tracking framework. It therefore never asks for Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission.
9. Your rights and how to manage your data
Because we do not collect or store your information, there is no data on our side to view, correct or delete. You manage the data Re:Days creates here:
- Records: edit or delete them in Re:Days, or directly in the Calendar app
- App permissions: Settings > Apps > Re:Days
- Deleting the app: deleting Re:Days removes the app and its on-device settings, but your records remain in the “Re:Days” calendar. To remove the records as well, delete that calendar in the Calendar app
Rights to access, correct or delete personal data under applicable law (such as Japan’s APPI, the GDPR or the CCPA) do not apply here, because we hold no data about you.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. For material changes we will set an effective date and, before that date, post the changes and the effective date at https://redays.caldendrium.com/privacy/, revising the “Last updated” date. Continuing to use Re:Days after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
If the Japanese and English versions differ, the Japanese version prevails. The English version is a translation provided for convenience.
